the Moment I landed down into Croatia, not looking back…
Boat Tours in Croatia
Welcome back to Finance Fixtory! In this post we will be talking about my trip to Split, Croatia back in July.
Why does it feel like it was a bit of a dream? Going on a somewhat ‘YOLO’ trip to Croatia. It is a place I’ve been meaning to go to for some time – especially when seeing Disclosure doing a DJ set there (watching 4 months prior). It was way before then, where I felt I really wanted to GO. I felt like this with Bournemouth.
Croatia just seemed like a dreamy place where you attend great festivals and make great memories – not having to worry about the weather during your time. That’s what I admired about it even though I didn’t know too much!
Before I left
As someone who grows veg and like many, I am sure plants have been stung (by heat) whilst being away. I didn’t want this to happen so I purchased an automatic watering systemautomatic watering system, andplastic watering birds (separate) which helped keep them moist
Travels in Croatia
My fave beach in Croatia.
I had set off with WizzAir but to be honest I really don’t want to talk about them .
Really grateful I had purchased a travel/hiking water bottle (the ones you can insert into your bag with a tube). I was having anxiety about security. Did not want to dry up of thirst. Didn’t know Luton airport also had somewhere to fill up my water bottle, so I was super grateful that I didn’t have to wait till Croatia.
I’d recommend purchasing a ‘bladder bag’. The bladder bag saved digging around for water and was used throughout the whole trip.
Arrivals
Well, I eventually arrived in Croatia at our beautiful 4* star hotel ready to meet the girls but unfortunately due to delays, this would have to wait till the next morning.
Could tell the hotel and this trip would be beautiful from the moment I got picked up in my transfer. I had the whole 6 seater van to myself which I thought was generous (something you hardly get in England). Bear in mind, I had only booked for 1 person but the driver was shocked it was just me with 2 suitcases.
Hotel
The hotel really stood out when I arrived and I just knew that was my hotel (Marvie Hotel, Split). It was about 7 stories and overlooked the rest of the area. It was 12am when I arrived – humid. Reception were very welcoming. Knowing they were super helpful, I felt a lot better.
Stepping into the lift, arriving on floor (4), it gave me cabin vibes which I thought was super cool and noticed the doors went inwards (or were on the opposite side in Croatia). Confusing and never got used to it .
Next Morning – Full First Day
Extremely excited to eat breakfast as the last meal consumed was on the plane …and that consisted of a chocolate bar and water bottle . Yes this is what you get from Wizz Air for 3 hours delay! Knowing, dinner was missed, but breakfast would be banging in the morning!
It was a marvellous breakfast Of course I managed to get full quite quickly but I tried not to rush my food.
The girls had already left to go to the beach and so the plan was meet them there. It was our 2nd time meeting each other in person. I got good vibes off them . First time swimming in the sea and can I just say it is so much easier than swimming in a pool in England! Can only hold the breath under water with ease for more than 10 seconds.
Bacvice Beach
Two of the girls had preceded to get some more drinks . At this point it was my first drink of the trip. The volume of alcohol was dissatisfying. In Croatia you’ll pay something like 140 kunas (about £16) for a Wetherspoons style pitcher and felt very sober. It’s either they are stingy with the alcohol or its just made weak.
It was very bland so M and I later on had decided to look around for some more and we came back with the below. Still not much different but looked cool!
Looks deeper than it actually was…
Tuesday – 3 Island Hop Tour (between £30 – £40 with lunch)
We woke up early to go the well awaited boat tour. Boarding the boat had creeped me our quite a bit. It was clearly unsafe and but then knew being cautious for the rest of the journey was important. Bare in mind this trip was 9 hours so my anxiety levels were not right. As we go on I find out I was right to feel like this!
At 9:30 the boat crew preceded to give out shot of vodka (their version). Was thee weakest shot consumed (no Wray and nephews style but did burn a little on the mouth). I think I felt it in my stomach for a few seconds..
On the boat!
The view on this boat was amazing I couldn’t get over the deep blue-ness of the water. It was truly amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen water like that.
I can feel the heat by looking at this photo.
The music wasn’t party vibe loud, however there was some music and we did get some snacks which was great.
First Stop
Our first stop was at a shipwreck. I wanted to join but as I previously mentioned, my anxiety levels set off the moment I boarded the boat cos of the thin chain holding us up. Furthermore, a man preceded to use his foot on the plank to board. Well, they had ran out of life jackets so I just knew my insurance wouldn’t cover me had anything bad happened. Go with your gut I say… Unfortunately 2 of the girls who jumped in did not have a pleasant experience…
2nd Island (Name to be confirmed)!
This island was PURE holiday vibes. M and I made thee MOST of it. From booking sun beds to improvising with that paddling thing (she will remind me of the name cos once again I seriously don’t remember)! Although I felt we might die at some point – swept away or to the other small island the tourists were swimming to. Even though, it wasn’t too far to swim too, lordt knows you’d need to save your energy to swim back. Often on these trips there’s not enough time so decided to stay put!
The time there was so lush and it was really good to have those deep convos with M
Ultimate Bae Beach
Vibes pon vibes!
3rd Island
Pretty chilled, however the water wasn’t!! It looked fairly rough to me so this time I decided to paddle instead lol. I also bought a small Oreo ice cream 25kunas (approx £3 )
Tranquility.
Journey back took about 2.5 hours and I got a bit of sleep. When we arrived back, we walked through the market and headed home. At this point still deciding if were going to party tonight but instead we went back to the sexayy rooftop pool and hung with M there.
I miss that pool I do.
When Peace is here, it is great.
Wednesday night
It was our last night here and we decided to go ‘out out’ finally! Feeling, like grandmas and couldn’t be asked but at the same time knew it had to be done.
After having half-board for the entire week (this saved a of money), now was the first time to receive some attention from a man – the waiter. He seemed very pleased to see what was in front of him but then M said he was married so it was like ‘ok bye’ . Was funny that he was not around before! Saw him the following afternoon when he was the COMPLETE opposite. .
Croatia night out was cool, however music wasn’t all that great but the vibe level in terms of it being right by the sea was super cool
Thursday – Last Day, on my own.
Spent the day with self care. Decided to check out the downstairs pool M was going on about – it was a beautiful place out of this world. There was nobody else in the pool at this time…well until some random decided to join
3 showers were tested :
Tropical shower
Cold Mist
Caribbean Storm
Woah. Normally my skin couldn’t handle it in England, but that water was super soft.
Finishing off with a massage that led to sleep…. feeling so relaxed the most relaxation felt all year. We must vow to feel that relaxed again.
Wizz Air
@WizzAir – you guys were seriously delayed and the flight was originally at 9:40.
Luckily, the Sony Walkman was of good use, whilst waiting at the airport. Cannot go without 16GB worth of music, videos and albums.
The Truth
Working at an airport, I fully understand delays and know it’s wrong to literally point fingers. However, after watching a documentary a week later, it could be clear on who is to be blame. It is the unjust system of overworking and covering colleagues hours. Someone just had enough and Don’t blame them! Of course, this will then have a knock on effect when companies do not plan for the worst and protect the best.
Summary
Would recommend Croatia . The feeling of safety, people helped assisting you on a few things. They did not gawp at me in a racist way or make me feel uncomfortable. The vibes of love are real there. Would defiantly go there again!
Can we not??
